Senior Technician (Marine)
Job Summary
You will perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on ship propulsion and auxiliary systems, coordinate with ship engineers and masters, assist project management, and ensure operational reliability through inspections and technical problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Ship Chief Engineer and Master to coordinate and complete all repair and maintenance operations effectively
- Overhaul and repair propulsion devices, shafting, pumps, thruster rudders, steering gear pumps, and hydraulic motors to maintain vessel functionality
- Interpret ship mechanical drawings to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues accurately
- Inspect and verify shaft and stern tube alignment and conduct shaft bearing load tests to ensure mechanical integrity
- Perform pipe fitting and hydro testing on fuel, lube oil, fire, wash deck, cargo, and ballast lines to maintain system safety and performance
- Conduct repair, maintenance, installation, and modification of main engines, auxiliary engines, and steam turbines to support vessel operations
- Support project manager in contract management, cost control, schedule monitoring, and maintaining project technical and operational reliability
- Participate in sea trial inspections to verify vessel performance and compliance with operational standards
Required competencies and certifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience in ship mechanical repairs and maintenance
- Possess ITE or relevant marine technical certification
