Senior UI Artist (onsite in New Zealand)

The Role - What You’ll Do
In this hands-on role, you will design, build, and implement UI features from concept through to final in-game delivery. You will work closely with design, tech, and production teams to create intuitive, visually polished, and highly usable UI that enhances the player experience.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Asset Creation & Layouts: Design and create high-quality UI assets, screens, and layouts for game features.
  • UI Flows: Develop intuitive UI flows that solve game design requirements in a clear and engaging way.
  • Unity Implementation: Implement and animate UI screens and elements in Unity.
  • Visual Standards: Maintain strong visual hierarchy, usability, readability, and consistency across different devices and aspect ratios.
  • Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Collaborate with designers, engineers, and producers to deliver polished player experiences while balancing visual quality with technical and production constraints.
  • Mentorship: Support and mentor other artists through feedback and collaboration.
  • Supporting Visuals: Create supporting assets such as event artwork, backgrounds, and promotional visuals when needed.
What You Bring - Key Skills & Traits Essential
  • Industry Experience: At least 5 years of experience in game development, with shipped titles.
  • Strong Portfolio: A proven portfolio demonstrating UI design, layout, and/or game interface work.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience working in Unity for UI implementation and/or animation , alongside proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop.
  • Design Fundamentals: An excellent eye for graphic design, composition, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • Legal Requirements: The legal right to work in New Zealand for an on-site position.
Desirable
  • Illustrative Skills: Strong illustrative skills with the ability to create stylized UI assets and icons.
  • UX Knowledge: A strong understanding of UI/UX principles and how they apply directly to games.
  • Ownership & Adaptability: The ability to take ownership, drive features independently , and work comfortably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Core Passion: A strong passion for games, especially mobile games.
