Job Description:

In the HPE Hybrid Cloud, we lead the innovation agenda and technology roadmap for all of HPE. This includes managing the design, development, and product portfolio of our next-generation cloud platform, Green Lake. Working with customers, we help them reimagine their information technology needs to deliver a simple, consumable solution that helps them drive their business results. Join us redefine what’s next for you.

What you'll do:

  • Shape the user journey: Participate in early-stage product discussions, helping define user problems, workflows, and low-fidelity wireframes or rapid prototypes.
  • Champion usability: Conduct lightweight user testing, review existing interfaces for usability friction, and iterate based on user feedback.
  • Design advocacy: Apply user-centered design principles (information architecture, interaction design, and accessibility standards) directly within the codebase.
  • Leverage AI tools: Use AI-first development tools to accelerate rapid prototyping directly into code and streamline front-end iterations.
  • Apply observability insights: Bring domain knowledge of hybrid observability to interpret metrics, logs, and alerts, shaping intuitive UI dashboards that clarify complex infrastructure data.
  • Design System: Build and maintain a common design system
  • Manage code lifecycle: Maintain standard version control practices using Git to manage features, branch workflows, and team collaboration.

What you need to bring:

Core Technical Skills

  • Front-End Engineering: 5+ years of professional engineering experience with advanced proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and architectural layout patterns.
  • Semantic HTML & CSS: Expertise in writing clean, well-structured semantic HTML and robust CSS/Sass, with a deep understanding of browser rendering and modern layouts.
  • Responsive Design: A proven track record of engineering responsive, fluid interfaces that behave seamlessly across varying device sizes, screen ratios, and aspect choices.
  • Accessibility (a11y): Comprehensive knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1/2.2 compliance, semantic markup structure, ARIA attributes, and keyboard navigation setup).
  • Design Systems: Proven track record of architecting, building, and maintaining reusable component libraries and living design systems using Storybook.
  • Package & Code Lifecycle: Proficiency with package management using Yarn and solid Git workflows (branch management, rebasing, and code reviews).

UX, Prototyping & Domain Knowledge

  • UX & Interaction Design: A strong foundation in user-centered design principles, including information architecture, interaction design, and WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Rapid Prototyping into Code: Experience or a strong preference for prototyping directly into code to quickly validate ideas and user flows.
  • AI-Assisted Development: Experience utilizing AI-first developer tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate coding, linting, and rapid prototyping workflows.
  • Hybrid Observability Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with the observability space —specifically understanding how to translate complex metrics, infrastructure logs, and alerts into intuitive, user-friendly dashboards.

Soft Skills & Mindset

  • Empathy-Driven Engineering: A user-first mindset with the curiosity to learn UX methodologies, participate in early product discovery, and advocate for user experience inside the codebase.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills to bridge the gap between design and engineering, translating complex technical limitations into smart product trade-offs.
