You will lead new-business and renewal underwriting for US digital-asset clients across six insurance lines. You will assess technical risks, quote and bind coverage, structure bespoke programmes, develop broker relationships, draft policy wordings, refine pricing, manage portfolio exposure, complete compliance checks, and mentor underwriters.
Responsibilities
- Lead new-business and renewal underwriting across six insurance lines
- Quote, negotiate, and bind risks within delegated authority
- Prepare referrals and contribute to Underwriting Committee decisions
- Assess custody architecture, key management, smart-contract audits, validator operations, and governance controls
- Design bespoke multi-line and hybrid-currency insurance programmes
- Develop relationships with US brokers and intermediaries
- Support US distribution, fronting, and programme partnerships
- Draft, negotiate, and approve policy wordings and endorsements
- Apply and refine pricing models
- Manage aggregation, correlation, and shared-infrastructure exposure
- Complete client risk assessments and sanctions, PEP, and adverse-media screening
- Coach underwriting team members
- Improve underwriting guidelines, SOPs, and AI-assisted underwriting tooling
Requirements
- Seven or more years in specialty or commercial lines underwriting or broking
- At least three years in Financial Lines or Specie
- Demonstrable personal underwriting authority and profitable results
- Experience drafting and negotiating policy wordings and endorsements
- Direct involvement in insurance product, programme, or facility development
- Knowledge of US specialty insurance markets, surplus lines, and fronting structures
- Understanding of digital asset custody, exchanges, trading, staking, DeFi, and US regulation
- Ability to assess technical risk independently
- Cyber underwriting experience is preferred
- Familiarity with the Bermuda regulatory framework is preferred
- Professional insurance designations are preferred
- Ability to use data tools, scripting, or AI assistants is preferred
