Position Summary The Senior Underwriter plays a critical role in ensuring that the underwriting process meets customer needs while maintaining accuracy and adhering to regulatory standards. This position entails evaluating insurance applications, analyzing medical information, and assessing risks to make informed decisions that align with the companys underwriting guidelines. Principal Responsibilities - Review and assess insurance applications by analyzing financial, medical, and demographic information. - Determine insurability by evaluating risk factors and utilizing underwriting tools and models. - Collaborate with medical professionals to obtain necessary medical documentation and clarify any uncertainties related to applicants' health conditions. - Develop rate indications based on evaluated risks and ensure compliance with underwriting policies and regulations. - Communicate decisions effectively to clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders while providing clear rationale for underwriting choices. - Maintain comprehensive records of all underwriting activities and ensure data integrity within the underwriting system. - Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in underwriting processes to enhance operational efficiency. Eligibility and Qualifications - Bachelors degree in finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred. - Proven experience in underwriting within the insurance sector is required. - Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare assessments relevant to insurance applications. - Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and compliance standards within the insurance industry.
