Senior Unix Server Support Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support large-scale RedHat Enterprise Linux and Unix server environments

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot RedHat, Unix and hybrid-cloud infrastructure issues

  • Respond to major incidents and support fast service restoration

  • Improve server support processes, operational stability and incident handling

  • Collaborate with Server Engineering teams on governance, security, architecture and infrastructure improvements

  • Work with external support teams to ensure smooth daily operations and high-quality service delivery

  • Identify and remediate inconsistent configurations across hybrid-cloud environments

  • Support automation and optimization initiatives using tools such as Ansible and Terraform

  • Help optimize GCP cloud spend, improve platform compliance and reduce security risks

  • Define, create and maintain standard operating procedures for server operations

  • Ensure compliance with Engineering and Cybersecurity policies

  • Support patching, upgrades, hardening, monitoring and general server lifecycle management

  • Provide technical consultation and support to other IT units and development teams

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing RedHat Enterprise Linux and Unix servers in enterprise environments

  • Experience managing at least several hundred RHEL and Unix servers

  • Practical experience with server management and deployment tools, especially RedHat Satellite

  • Strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform technologies and compute operations

  • Experience with automation, analysis, modification and testing of cloud services

  • Ability to design, build, implement and maintain automation using tools such as Ansible and Terraform

  • Experience in optimizing cloud costs, identifying security risks and supporting compliance across cloud platforms

  • Experience in identifying, verifying and remediating inconsistent configurations in hybrid-cloud environments

  • Familiarity with modern management and monitoring tools for RedHat, Unix and GCP infrastructure

  • Strong skills in daily server management, troubleshooting and technical support

  • Good understanding of IT operations governance, including procedures, compliance, patching, hardening and monitoring

  • English proficiency, both spoken and written, at minimum B2 level

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in a financial institution or highly regulated environment would be a strong asset

  • Experience managing other Unix operating systems, such as Solaris, AIX or IBMi

  • Practical experience with virtual machine support in VMware environments
