Senior UX Engineer, Chrome Desktop

Summary

Develops prototypes and features for the Chrome desktop browser, bridging design and engineering to build user-facing tools. Work involves rapid prototyping and coding within the Chrome codebase to enhance user experience.

Joining a multi-disciplinary UX team, you will collaborate with Engineering and Product Management, using user insights to create industry-leading products. In a fast-paced environment, you will use your creativity, analytical skills, and knowledge of user-facing technologies to: create prototypes that define product experiences; launch innovative features; build tools to accelerate UX teams; and bridge design and engineering to ensure efficient, high-quality execution.

US: $159000 - $230000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and prototype new features that enhance the user experience on Chrome.
  • Model a feedback culture by providing and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Navigate ambiguous product settings, using your problem-solving skills to identify and address user needs.
  • Write and review code in Chrome's codebase.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in front-end development, technical UX design, or prototyping.
  • Experience in application development in one or more platform/area (e.g., web, iOS, Android, CompDes, XR).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience developing responsive, adaptive, and performant websites and applications.
  • 6 years of experience as a front-end developer, UX Engineer, creative or design technologist, or in a prototyping design environment.
  • Experience in designing, prototyping, and delivering high-quality user-facing features from idea to launch.
  • Frontend development with backend integrations and rapid UX prototyping experience.
  • Ability to translate mocks and wireframes into well-structured and responsive user interfaces.
