Description
The Amazon Camera team is looking for a highly motivated, strategic thinker with a passion for owning and growing their business. Our mission is to make it easy for customers to discover and purchase everything they need for photography, vlogging, stargazing, and home security. Equally important, we are committed to fostering an inclusive team culture centered on career growth, collaboration, and a reputation for excellence. The Senior Vendor Manager will be responsible for driving both top-line and bottom-line performance for our Security Camera category. This includes owning strategic vendor relationships, expanding product selection, negotiating vendor terms, partnering with marketing and advertising to drive traffic, and working with operations and instock teams to ensure product availability. We are looking for a passionate customer advocate with a long-term, cross-functional mindset and a deep understanding of the P&L.
Key job responsibilities
Full P&L responsibility, including planning, forecasting, and driving growth for the respective categories. Must be adept at understanding internal and external variables (inputs) that impact the business and how to deploy against each to attain the desired results.
- Proven record of driving strategic vendor negotiations and delivering outsized results. Comfortable representing Amazon in meetings with senior executive teams from top vendors.
- Effective at setting goals and strategic direction for the business, ensuring alignment with broader business goals and vision.
- Effective communicator who works with Amazon partners and vendors, as well as internal groups such as buying, site merchandising, marketing, PR, finance, operations, and retail systems to deliver innovation and a better customer experience.
- Strong in cross-functional collaboration on necessary systems and processes to support business needs, including retail systems, site merchandising, and in-stock.
- Adept at identifying industry trends that are relevant to customer selection and experience.
A day in the life
The Sr. Vendor Manager's day would likely include: reviewing reporting/audits for their business's metric; meeting and negotiating with vendors to drive the business and solve joint business problems, conducting regular business rhythm activities such as WBR/MBR inputs or leadership requests; problem solving with peers, finance partner, and/or other key stakeholders; work on strategic projects, category sme-ships, or key category initiatives.
About the team
The team manages a multi-billion-dollar business spanning DSLR/mirrorless cameras, security cameras, film, accessories, and creator/vlogging products. Our team of vendor managers partners with top brands — including Canon, Sony, Fujifilm, GoPro, and Kodak — to deliver best-in-class selection, pricing, and deals for customers. We drive full P&L ownership, lead strategic vendor negotiations, and pioneer category-first initiatives like our Snap Sale event. With a focus on profitability, selection expansion, and innovative marketing, we are passionate about helping customers capture their best moments.
