Senior Web Designer / CRO & Landing Page Specialist

The Role

We run SEO, AEO, Google Ads and Meta Ads for Australian service businesses — mortgage brokers, finance professionals, healthcare practices, law firms, trades and other businesses where a better website can mean a lot more revenue.

We're looking for a senior web designer / CRO specialist who understands that a website isn't there just to look good. It needs to sell.

You might call yourself a web designer, conversion rate optimisation specialist, UX designer, landing page specialist or some combination of the above.

The title matters less than the outcome.

We want someone who can look at a website or landing page and see what needs to change — the hierarchy, spacing, copy, CTA, form, trust signals, mobile experience, flow, speed, tracking — and then make sure it actually happens.

Sometimes you'll make the changes yourself.

Sometimes you'll give clear instructions to our web development team.

Either is completely fine.

What matters is that the end result is exceptional.

Three things matter most to us, in this order: conversion, user experience, and design that serves a purpose.

1. Conversion Rate Optimisation

This is the core of the role.

We don't want someone who simply makes websites prettier.

We want someone who asks:

What is stopping this person from taking the next step?

You'll go across our clients' websites and landing pages looking for opportunities to improve performance.

That might mean:

  • Making the offer clearer within the first few seconds

  • Reworking the hero section so people immediately understand what's being sold

  • Moving or changing CTAs

  • Reducing unnecessary steps in a form

  • Adding the right trust signals at the right point

  • Improving mobile layouts

  • Fixing sections that look good but don't actually help someone make a decision

  • Improving page hierarchy and visual flow

  • Changing copy that's clever but unclear

  • Building dedicated landing pages for specific campaigns, services or audiences

  • Removing things that distract people from converting

We want someone who can take a page from "this looks fine" to "this is clearly built to convert."

And importantly, you shouldn't need us to tell you every change to make.

You should be the person telling us.

2. Landing Pages & Web Design

You'll work heavily on landing pages.

Some will be built from scratch. Others will already exist and need to be turned into something much stronger.

You'll need to understand how paid traffic behaves differently from organic traffic, and why a landing page built for Google Ads or Meta Ads can't just be treated like another website page.

You'll think about:

  • Message match between the ad and the page

  • The offer

  • Above-the-fold clarity

  • Headlines and supporting copy

  • Visual hierarchy

  • CTA placement

  • Forms

  • Social proof

  • Objection handling

  • Urgency

  • Mobile UX

  • Load speed

  • Friction

  • What someone needs to believe before they'll enquire

Most of our websites are WordPress, but we also have custom HTML/CSS sites and other platforms.

You don't necessarily need to be a full-stack developer.

If you can build it yourself, great.

If your strength is design, CRO and UX and you can give our developers extremely clear instructions that they can execute properly, that's also great.

The responsibility is still yours.

You don't throw something over the fence and forget about it. You check the finished page and make sure it actually matches what you had in mind.

3. Measure What Changed

We don't want to redesign things based entirely on opinion.

Wherever possible, we want to know whether the change actually worked.

You should be comfortable thinking about things like:

  • Landing page conversion rate

  • CTA clicks

  • Form starts

  • Form completions

  • Button clicks

  • Scroll depth

  • Engagement

  • Time on page

  • Drop-off points

  • Mobile versus desktop behaviour

  • Leads generated before and after a change

You don't need to personally be the world's best GTM technician.

You'll have our SEO, ads and development teams around you.

But you need to understand what should be measured, ask for the data you need and make sure the tracking exists before declaring something a success.

If we're changing the main CTA on a page, we should be able to see whether more people click it.

If we're rebuilding a landing page, we should know whether its conversion rate improved.

If we're shortening a form, we should be able to measure whether more people complete it.

Good design is important.

Better results are more important.

4. AI Should Make You Better, Not Sloppier

We actively use AI across the agency.

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and whatever comes next.

We're looking for someone who has figured out how to use these tools to do more good work faster without lowering the standard.

Maybe you're using AI to:

  • Explore different landing page structures

  • Analyse competitor pages

  • Generate starting points for copy

  • Create wireframes

  • Review UX

  • Develop design concepts

  • Write development briefs

  • Analyse page data

  • Generate HTML/CSS

  • Speed up repetitive production work

Great.

We don't care whether something took you six hours or AI helped you get there in two.

We care whether the thinking is good and whether the finished work performs.

AI should remove the boring parts and give you more time for judgement, strategy and craft.

It shouldn't turn every website into the same template.

Also In The Role

  • Review our existing client websites and identify CRO and UX opportunities

  • Design and improve landing pages for Google Ads and Meta Ads

  • Improve service pages and other high-value website pages

  • Work directly with our founder on key client projects

  • Brief our web development team and QA their implementation

  • Make smaller WordPress changes yourself where appropriate

  • Improve website and landing page copy where needed

  • Work with our SEO team so CRO changes don't create SEO problems

  • Work with our ads team so landing pages actually match the campaigns sending traffic to them

  • Help establish better website and landing page standards across the agency

  • Keep projects moving without needing someone to chase you

You'll Fit If

You understand that design has a job to do.
You appreciate beautiful websites, but you don't sacrifice clarity for creativity. A button exists to be clicked. A headline exists to communicate something. A layout exists to guide someone through a decision.

You're proud of your craft.
Spacing matters. Typography matters. Mobile matters. Copy matters. The slightly misaligned button that nobody else notices probably annoys you.

You understand conversion.
You know why a page can look fantastic and still perform terribly. You understand offers, friction, trust, hierarchy, intent and what makes someone actually take action.

You can write.
You don't have to be a dedicated copywriter, but you should be comfortable changing a headline, rewriting a CTA or simplifying a section when the current copy is getting in the way.

You're commercially minded.
The question isn't only, "Does this look better?"

It's:

"Will this help generate more enquiries?"

You're autonomous.
We're not looking for someone who needs a task list every morning.

You'll be able to look across our client portfolio, identify what needs attention, prioritise it, bring in the right people and get it finished.

You have opinions.
If something is bad, say it's bad.

If we suggest an idea that you think will hurt conversions, tell us.

We're hiring you because we want your experience, not because we want someone to agree with everything.

You're happy to ask for help.
Nobody here needs to be world-class at everything.

Maybe you're brilliant at UX and CRO but don't want to touch advanced JavaScript.

Fine.

Bring the developer in.

Maybe you need conversion data from GA4 before making a decision.

Ask our SEO team.

What matters is that you own the outcome and get the right people involved to produce it.

How We Work

We care about quality.
We'd rather do fewer things exceptionally well than push mediocre work out just because a task was due on Tuesday.

We value experienced people.
We want people who have been doing this long enough to develop judgement. People who don't need every decision documented in a 14-step SOP before they can move.

You'll have real independence.
We're looking for someone mature enough to run their projects properly and communicate when something needs attention.

No hovering over your shoulder.

No meetings for the sake of meetings.

Get the information you need, make the decision and get the work done.

You'll work closely with the founder.
Particularly at the beginning, you'll work directly together across some of our most important websites and landing pages.

Over time, we'd like you to increasingly own this side of the agency.

We don't rush and overload people.
Good CRO requires thinking.

You need time to properly review a page, understand the traffic, understand the customer and work out what's actually wrong.

We'd rather bring in another person than have great people producing average work because they're buried.

We enjoy the craft.
We want people who actually like this stuff.

People who see an excellent landing page and start pulling it apart to work out why it works.

People who still care about getting better even after years in the industry.

Craft and balance aren't opposites.
We want exceptional work and we want you to have a life.

Flexible hours, remote work and a team of experienced people who are trusted to manage themselves.

The Arrangement

  • Contract to start

  • Approximately 10–20 hours per week initially

  • Flexible working hours

  • Fully remote

  • Potential to grow into significantly more hours or a full-time position

  • Performance bonuses on top

  • Opportunity to take ownership of CRO, UX and landing pages across the agency

  • Rate discussed based on experience and capability

We're less interested in whether you've been doing this for exactly five years or ten.

We're interested in whether your work is excellent.

Nice To Have

  • Agency or multi-client experience

  • WordPress

  • Elementor, Breakdance or similar builders

  • HTML/CSS

  • Figma

  • GA4

  • Google Tag Manager

  • Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar or similar behavioural analytics tools

  • GoHighLevel

  • SEO knowledge

  • Paid media experience

  • Direct-response copywriting

  • Experience with finance, healthcare, professional services or local service businesses

  • Experience using AI as part of your design and development workflow

How To Apply

Apply through Seek with your CV, portfolio and a short note covering:

  1. A landing page or website you're proud of.
Show us the page and explain what you were trying to achieve — not just what you designed.

  2. A page you improved.
What was wrong with it, what did you change, and what happened afterwards? If you have conversion data, even better.

  3. Show us how you use AI.
Tell us one practical way AI has made you faster or better at web design, CRO, copy or development.

  4. Take a page apart.
Send us a website or landing page you think is particularly good and tell us why it works.

  5. One thing you're not the best at.
And tell us what you do when a project needs that skill anyway.

We're not looking for the person with the fanciest portfolio.

We're looking for someone who understands why people take action — and knows how to build pages that make that action easier.
