Senior Web Engineer
Summary
The Senior Web Engineer will build and maintain production-grade OTT and video streaming web applications, focusing on playback, DRM, and adaptive bitrate streaming. The role requires deep expertise in the video delivery pipeline and collaboration with teams managing AWS-centric media infrastructure.
We are looking for 2 Senior Web Engineers with deep experience building and supporting production OTT and video streaming platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain and enhance production-grade OTT/video streaming web applications.
- Diagnose complex playback, buffering, manifest and DRM issues.
- Work with HLS and MPEG-DASH streaming technologies.
- Implement and troubleshoot adaptive bitrate (ABR) streaming.
- Integrate and troubleshoot DRM technologies including Widevine, FairPlay and PlayReady.
- Work with commercial or open-source video players.
- Investigate playback analytics and identify issues across the video delivery pipeline.
- Work with authentication, authorisation and content entitlement systems.
- Collaborate with backend and infrastructure teams operating AWS-centric media environments.
- Troubleshoot issues across CDN-delivered video and AWS media infrastructure.
- Contribute to modern frontend architecture and engineering standards.
Required Experience
- Strong modern frontend engineering experience.
- Proven experience working on production OTT, video streaming or media platforms.
- Hands-on experience with:
- HLS
- MPEG-DASH
- Adaptive Bitrate Streaming (ABR)
- MSE / EME
- DRM Widevine, FairPlay and/or PlayReady
- Playback analytics
- Authentication and entitlement
- CDN-delivered video
- Strong ability to diagnose real-world playback and streaming issues.
- Experience working with commercial or open-source video players.
- Experience operating against AWS-centric backend and media infrastructure.
- Ability to understand the complete video delivery chain rather than treating video playback as a black box.
