Senior Web Engineer, Marketing

You will rethink web production from the ground up, evaluating the current WordPress and Gutenberg stack and charting the path forward. You will design reusable infrastructure, templates, and workflows that empower the marketing team to launch and update pages independently. You will partner closely with designers and stakeholders to turn design files and business requests into practical, scalable web solutions. You will translate ambiguous business needs into technical approaches that balance speed, accessibility, performance, SEO, and maintainability. You will embed AI tools into your workflow and introduce repeatable AI-powered processes. You will own delivery end to end, scoping and estimating work, communicating timelines, and keeping the site fast, responsive, accessible, secure, and cross-browser compatible.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and evolve the WordPress and Gutenberg stack while maintaining and improving the current site
• Design reusable infrastructure, templates, and workflows that empower the marketing team to launch and update pages independently
• Partner closely with designers and stakeholders to turn design files and business requests into practical, scalable web solutions
• Translate ambiguous business needs into technical approaches balancing speed, accessibility (WCAG), performance (Core Web Vitals), SEO/GEO, and maintainability
• Embed AI tools into workflows and introduce repeatable AI-powered processes that accelerate web production
• Own delivery end to end, scoping and estimating work and communicating realistic timelines and tradeoffs
• Keep the site performant, responsive, accessible, secure, and cross-browser compatible

Requirements

• Strong HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript (modern ES), and React
• Experience with headless or API-driven architectures
• WordPress and Gutenberg depth including custom post types, taxonomies, hooks, and the REST API
• Experience working with security teams and managing sites through WP Engine or similar managed hosting platforms
• Track record of changing how a web team operates through systems, architectural shifts, and migrations handled independently
• Daily use of AI-powered development tools like Cursor, v0, Bolt, or Claude
• Experience building for scale with component libraries, templates, documentation, and guardrails
• Strong project management instincts and cross-disciplinary communication
• Comfort with ambiguity and change
