Senior Web Platform Engineer

The opportunity

Deep Tech Recruitment is partnering with a fast-growing European electric mobility company developing premium physical products that are designed to outperform established combustion technology across performance, emotion and design.

Its mission is to accelerate a more sustainable mobility industry by reducing CO2 and plastic pollution without asking customers to compromise on performance. The business is building an integrated technology environment that provides consistent data and services across its platforms for employees, customers and operational teams.

The role

You will help build the web platform on which critical services across the company depend. The focus is on reliable, production-grade APIs and backend services, as well as the operationalisation of Python-based AI tools into Node.js and Python systems.

This is a senior individual-contributor role for an engineer who is comfortable making architecture decisions, owning production services and moving between distributed-systems problems, data and database concerns, platform reliability and cross-functional delivery.

What you will own

• Design, develop and maintain web services and APIs in Node.js, Python or another fit-for-purpose stack.

• Act as a principal developer for AI-enabled solutions, helping AI engineers operationalise Python tools within reliable Node.js and Python backends.

• Make architecture decisions that balance scalability, performance, reliability and maintainability.

• Create and maintain production-grade REST APIs with appropriate versioning, authentication, rate limiting and pagination.

• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve production issues with urgency.

• Collaborate with AI, product, frontend, QA, DevOps and external partners to meet business objectives.

• Set standards for clean, concise, stable and extensible code.

• Own and prioritise the technical backlog with clarity and transparency.

• Continuously explore faster and more reliable ways to solve problems and reach milestones.

• Maintain technical documentation and conduct team communication in English.

• Mentor colleagues, invite direct feedback and contribute to a culture that learns openly from mistakes.

What you will bring

Essential experience

• 7+ years designing, building and operating production web services.

• Strong computer-science foundations across data structures, algorithms, complexity and concurrency.

• A strong background in distributed systems and the nuanced failure, consistency and scaling problems common to them.

• Deep proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, with at least one server framework such as Express or NestJS.

• Experience building and maintaining production REST APIs, including versioning, authentication, rate limiting and pagination.

• Practical knowledge of scalable patterns such as microservices, event-driven systems and CQRS.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong SQL capability across schema design, indexing, migrations and performance tuning in PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively in English.

• A growth mindset grounded in feedback, continuous learning, documentation and knowledge sharing.

Useful additional experience

• Deploying and operating services on AWS, including Lambda, ECS or EKS, RDS, SQS and CloudWatch.

• Python and production Python server backends.

• Leading end-to-end technical initiatives, contributing to architecture, standards and knowledge sharing.

• A NoSQL database such as MongoDB.
