Server Administrator
Location: Calgary AB
We are
seeking experienced Senior Server Administrators to support server upgrade and
infrastructure modernization project. The role involves planning, upgrading,
troubleshooting, and validating enterprise Windows Server environments along
with VMware and Active Directory infrastructure. Candidates must be comfortable
working onsite, coordinating with multiple technical teams, and supporting
critical production systems.
Key
Responsibilities
- Perform Windows Server upgrades
and migrations (2012/2016/2019 to newer versions).
- Administer and support VMware
vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments.
- Manage Active Directory, DNS,
DHCP, Group Policies, and related services.
- Execute server patching, health
checks, and performance validation activities.
- Coordinate with Network,
Security, Database, and Application teams during upgrade activities.
- Perform backup, restoration, and
disaster recovery validation.
- Troubleshoot server,
virtualization, storage, and operating system issues.
- Document configurations,
procedures, risks, and upgrade outcomes.
- Support after-hours maintenance
windows and project cutover activities.
- Ensure compliance with security
and operational standards.
Required
Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of Windows Server
Administration experience.
- Strong experience with VMware
vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, HA, DRS, and vMotion.
- Strong Active Directory
administration experience.
- Experience with Windows Server
2012, 2016, 2019, and 2022.
- Experience with PowerShell
scripting and automation.
- Strong troubleshooting and root
cause analysis skills.
- Experience supporting
enterprise-scale infrastructure environments.
- Excellent communication and
documentation skills.
Preferred
Qualifications
- VMware VCP Certification.
- Microsoft Windows Server
Certifications.
- Experience with Nutanix, Azure,
or AWS.
- Experience in large
infrastructure upgrade or migration projects.
