Senior Workday Administrator (HCM, Compensation and Security)
Summary
A senior, hands-on Workday administrator owning the configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and security of Workday HCM, Advanced Compensation, and Security in a global organization. Day to day: managing compensation cycles, business processes, reporting, and compliance while partnering with People, Finance, IT, and Payroll teams and mentoring junior admins.
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Workday Administrator (HCM, Compensation and Security) based in India.
This is a senior, hands-on Workday role focused on owning and optimizing critical HCM, Compensation, and Security capabilities within a global organization. You will lead configuration, maintenance, system improvements, upgrades, and feature adoption across a live Workday environment. The role combines deep functional expertise with troubleshooting, reporting, security administration, process improvement, and stakeholder partnership. You will support core HR processes, organizational structures, compensation cycles, business processes, and compensation statements while ensuring data integrity and compliance. You will collaborate closely with People, Finance, IT, Payroll, and integration teams to translate business requirements into effective Workday solutions. The position also provides opportunities to mentor junior administrators and guide users through new features and capabilities. Accountabilities:
- Own the configuration, maintenance, and ongoing operation of Workday HCM, Advanced Compensation, and Security as primary areas of responsibility.
- Manage core HR configuration, organizational structures, business processes, bonus cycles, merit and promotion processes, and compensation statements.
- Lead Workday configuration projects, including new module deployments, system upgrades, enhancements, and adoption of features introduced through biannual Workday releases.
- Monitor Workday system health, performance, functionality, and security to ensure reliable and compliant operations.
- Administer Workday security configurations, including security groups, roles, permissions, and access controls while maintaining least-privilege principles, segregation of duties, and audit requirements.
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify process improvement and automation opportunities and conduct gap analyses to enhance system efficiency and user experience.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for configuration issues, data discrepancies, and operational problems, performing root-cause analysis and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
- Build, maintain, and optimize Workday reports, calculated fields, dashboards, and other reporting solutions to support business decisions and ensure data accuracy.
- Ensure Workday configurations and processes comply with applicable regulations, internal policies, security standards, and audit requirements.
- Mentor junior Workday administrators and provide guidance on configuration standards, best practices, and effective system administration.
- Develop and deliver training for People Partners, Finance teams, and other end users on Workday features, functionality, and process changes.
- Act as a key liaison between People, Finance, IT, Payroll, and other business functions to align business processes with Workday capabilities.
- Partner with integration teams on functional requirements and data feeds involving Workday.
- Support change management activities associated with system releases, configuration changes, new functionality, and evolving business requirements.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on Workday configuration experience within a live production tenant.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Deep functional expertise in Workday HCM, Advanced Compensation, and Security.
- Workday certification is highly desirable, particularly in HCM, Security, and Advanced Compensation.
- Previous experience deploying or implementing Workday modules and supporting configuration projects.
- Strong configuration experience across additional Workday modules such as Recruiting, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence, and Performance.
- Strong understanding of Workday architecture, business processes, security models, reporting capabilities, and configuration principles.
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining Workday calculated fields, EIBs (Enterprise Interface Builder), and advanced reports.
- Experience supporting Workday system upgrades, change management, and feature adoption associated with biannual releases.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess system requirements and identify effective configuration solutions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy and system quality.
