Server Hardware
Key Responsibilities
✔ Installation & Deployment
Install, configure, and deploy Dell PowerEdge servers and associated hardware components (CPU, memory, storage, RAID controllers).
Rack, cable, and power physical servers in data centers.
✔ Hardware Maintenance
Perform regular preventive maintenance, firmware updates, and hardware diagnostics.
Replace or upgrade faulty components (HDD/SSD, RAM modules, RAID controllers, power supplies, fans).
✔ Troubleshooting & Support
Identify and resolve server hardware issues across production and non-production environments.
Work with vendor support (Dell ProSupport) to diagnose and escalate complex hardware faults.
Monitor server health using iDRAC, OpenManage, and system logs.
✔ Documentation
Maintain accurate hardware inventory, asset tagging, and configuration records.
Document hardware changes, maintenance procedures, and incident reports.
✔ Performance & Capacity Planning
Assist in capacity planning and forecasting of hardware needs.
Provide input for server refresh cycles and hardware lifecycle management.
✔ Security & Compliance
Ensure hardware security best practices (BIOS passwords, physical access controls).
Comply with change management and ITIL processes.
✔ Collaboration
Work closely with Networking, Virtualization, Storage, and Security teams.
Support projects involving new hardware deployments, migrations, and upgrades.
