Description
Responsibilities
- Lead customer technical discussions to clarify L11 rack requirements and interfaces with the data center facility, including power availability, cooling capacity, power and cooling interfaces, space, floor loading, and installation access.
- Translate server, storage, and networking selections into preliminary L11 rack configurations, covering equipment quantities and placement, rack layout, power distribution, cooling interfaces, connectivity, and cabling. Document assumptions and items requiring confirmation.
- Consolidate requirements across accounts, compare them with current product capabilities, and propose L11 product options, and identify product gaps that call for development or validation.
- Coordinate with L9 and the relevant product teams to obtain confirmed product configurations, specifications, and integration constraints. Assess rack-level feasibility and compatibility with the customer's facility conditions.
- Develop practical solutions when requirements are incomplete, changing, or technically uncertain. Identify critical unknowns, compare options, assess risks and trade-offs, and recommend next steps with clearly stated assumptions and validation needs.
- Review implementation proposals and outputs from the rack engineering team against the agreed requirements. Provide technical direction for required changes and drive rack configuration and integration issues to closure with the responsible teams.
- Define rack-level validation needs with engineering and validation teams, review results, and support targeted PoC or troubleshooting activities needed to resolve rack configuration and facility interface questions.
- Communicate technical risks, unresolved dependencies, and required confirmations before quotation, implementation, or customer commitment. Coordinate facility interface issues with the responsible teams.
- Represent MiTAC in relevant industry organizations and technical working groups, such as the Open Compute Project (OCP), contributing to discussions on rack architecture, power, cooling, and facility interfaces.
- Track relevant industry specifications, assess their impact on MiTAC rack solutions, and coordinate recommendations and technical contributions with internal product and engineering teams.
Requirements
- Practical experience in rack system integration, solution engineering, or solution architecture in AI, HPC, or storage environments.
- Experience with modern hyperscale data centers, high-density data center environments, or direct liquid cooling (DLC) systems.
- Ability to independently develop preliminary L11 rack configurations based on server, storage, and networking selections and confirmed product configurations.
- Ability to turn customer and market requirements into a workable product or solution concept, and to identify product gaps, development needs, and validation priorities.
- Understanding of data center facility requirements relevant to rack integration, including electrical power, cooling, space, floor loading, and installation constraints.
- Working knowledge of rack layout, equipment placement, power distribution, cooling interfaces, networking, and cabling, with the judgment to identify when product-team or specialist input is required.
- Sound engineering judgment in uncertain situations, with the ability to structure ambiguous problems, propose feasible solutions, and assess risk as new information becomes available.
- Beyond the technical background, at least one of the following: market sense for the AI, HPC, or storage rack business; direct customer-facing experience; or field engineering experience.
- Ability to present technical proposals and communicate the company's technical position in industry discussions. Prior participation in OCP or similar technical communities is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred)
