Service Branch Manager

The Service Branch Manager is responsible for leading Kraun’s ICI Niagara & Hamilton branch, which focuses on client-direct electrical service, service agreements, and in-facility upgrade projects within industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities. This Branch offers 24/7 service and a 3-hour response time guarantee.
In this role, you are accountable for the branch profit and loss (P&L) and lead the ICI branch end-to-end—winning profitable direct-to-client work and delivering it safely and to a high standard through effective sales, estimating, job execution, customer experience, and financial management—while building a high-performing team and ensuring the right systems are in place to meet branch goals.

Role and Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, coach, and support the Branch Team, both administrative and field personnel, to deliver safe, high-quality service. Set clear expectations, manage performance, and provide ongoing professional development. Drive hiring, onboarding, and team-building efforts that align with Kraun's SPARK values. Your focus will be on exceptional customer experience.
Client Relationships & Service Delivery
Work closely with the Business Development Manager to foster key client relationships and serve as the primary point of escalation for service issues. Ensure consistent, proactive communication and high service standards.
Operational & Financial Management
Oversee departmental operations, including job costing, resource utilization, inventory control, invoicing, and receivables. Monitor financial performance with field staff, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement cost-effective solutions. Responsible for achieving targets tied to the Branch P&L.
Strategic Execution & Growth
Execute strategic initiatives, manage change, and drive continuous improvement. Seek and act on client needs, market trends, and growth opportunities—including new service offerings, customer acquisition, and government funding.
Collaboration & Reporting
Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth workflows. Review and share performance metrics regularly to drive alignment and accountability.
Risk & Safety Oversight
Champion a culture of safety and manage operational risks in partnership with the Health & Safety Specialist.
Additional Responsibilities
Participate in industry events, stay informed on new technologies, and contribute to quarterly goal-setting with the COO and Shared Services team. Perform other duties as required to support the team and company objectives.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Education in Business Management is an asset.
- 7+ years in ICI electrical contracting (or similar environment), including 3+ years in a leadership role accountable for results.
- Demonstrated capability to manage a profit centre or equivalent business function, including job costing, forecasting, operational decision-making, and A/R awareness.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License, clean driving record, and ability to pass background screening.
- 309A or 442A Electrical License is advantageous.
Experience and Preferred Skills
- Proven experience managing a technical team and holding team members accountable for meeting performance targets.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to build and lead a high-performing team and hold people accountable to targets.
- Strong financial literacy: ability to interpret P&L and job costing reports and translate insights into action.
- Solid understanding of estimating, pricing strategy, contracts, and change management in a contracting environment.
- Strong customer relationship and communication skills; effective negotiating skills.
- Systems-driven mindset: comfortable adopting and enforcing standardized processes, dashboards, etc.
- Proficiency with digital tools (e.g. Microsoft 365, estimating software).
- Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills.
- Systems-driven mindset and ability to optimize and train processes.
- Goal-oriented mindset and adaptability in dynamic environments.
Working Environment & Physical Demands
- In-office position, with prolonged sitting
- Occasional visits to client facilities and ride-alongs with team members.
- Routine use of standard office equipment.
- Occasional travel and work outside regular hours to attend meetings, trade shows, and other events will be required.
