Service Designer (Co-ordination focus)
Description
- Co-own design within the product team (currently UX focused service designer, product manager, backend developer, frontend developer, research translator) towards launch of the smartglasses app
- Co-producing logistics and records. Own the engagement calendar, schedule and plan accessible co-design sessions, and arrange venues, transport, and equipment, produce session packs, and organise participant payments. Write up participant contributions, and secure consent paperwork, alongside the Director, who holds safeguarding and sensitive participant correspondence
- Workshop co-facilitation. Run safe, inclusive sessions with people living with dementia and their carers, as well as other stakeholder groups, with safeguarding standards the company abides by
- Champion community needs. Route community priorities into roadmap triage and keep participants informed of what changed because of their input. Translate user needs into requirements for the software developers, especially the system's behaviour adaptation
- Steward participant community. Keep the pool of Experts by Experience active, representative and well supported between sessions: availability, communication preferences and accessibility needs, follow-ups, payments, and feedback-loop notes after each session
- Inclusive design. Maintain accessibility protocols for diverse cognitive needs
- Service blueprinting. Map the end-to-end user journey, from the smartphone app to smartglasses
- Asset production. Produce and manage high-fidelity visual assets
- Support pool. Maintain working relationships with community partners, freelance moderators and facilitators, and research study teams, so engagements land when studies and the roadmap need them
- Research study support. Integrate user-experience elements into research studies and ensure alignment with the associated protocols. Work with researchers on science-driven design features
- Internal testing. Run internal testing sessions and give developers actionable feedback
- Learning budget
- Workplace pension
- Flexible hours
- 30 days annual leave
- Home office support
- Equity
- 3+ years in service design, participatory design, or product design with substantial user research, ideally assistive tech, healthtech or digital health
- Strong visual and written communication: a portfolio showing detailed mobile app design (storyboards, journey maps, user flows, UI, interactive prototypes), examples of in-app or other content or copywriting
- Meticulous organisation: running engagement programmes end to end, scheduling many participants simultaneously, managing records, consent and follow-ups
- Confident facilitation: attentive listener and open questioner, facilitating safe, ethical co-production with vulnerable populations
- Connected big and small picture thinking; translating qualitative user feedback into actionable product requirements
- Proactive documentation: casual photography of our events (co-design workshops, conferences, internal team activities) and clear internal documentation of learning and progress eg. week notes
