Service Engineer (Data Center)
Salary: RM 3,000 – RM 4,500 per month
About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Service Engineer (Data Center) to join our growing team at Global Development Technology Sdn.Bhd. in Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining and optimising our data centre infrastructure, ensuring reliable and efficient operations that support our clients' critical business systems. As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our data centre facilities, making a direct impact on service availability and customer satisfaction.
What you'll be doing
Monitor and maintain data centre equipment, including servers, storage systems, networking devices, and power management systems
Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and reliability of all data centre infrastructure
Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and network-related issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions
Respond promptly to service incidents and alarms, escalating issues to appropriate teams when necessary
Conduct hardware installations, upgrades, and replacements whilst adhering to safety and operational standards
Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, configurations, and system changes
Collaborate with other technical teams to ensure seamless coordination of data centre operations
Support the deployment of new systems and infrastructure whilst minimising downtime
Participate in capacity planning and performance optimisation initiatives
Ensure compliance with data centre security protocols and access control procedures
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
Proven experience working in a data centre environment, ideally 2-3 years in a similar service engineer or technical support role
Strong knowledge of server hardware, storage systems, and networking infrastructure
Experience with data centre management tools and monitoring systems
Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and network connectivity issues
Understanding of IT infrastructure best practices and data centre standards (such as TIER classifications)
Familiarity with power distribution, cooling systems, and environmental monitoring in data centre environments
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
Willingness to work on-call or shift rotations as required
Relevant certifications (such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or vendor-specific data centre certifications) are highly desirable
