Job Summary
The Senior HVAC Engineer (Data Centre Focus) is responsible for the planning, execution, and technical support of HVAC operations within mission-critical data centre environments. This role involves close communication with data centre customers, strong technical expertise in HVAC and cooling systems, and the ability to manage operational challenges under demanding conditions. The engineer will ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with data centre standards and Trane Technologies’ quality expectations.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support, servicing, and maintenance of HVAC systems, including data centre cooling solutions and mission‑critical equipment.
- Carry out corrective and preventive maintenance for chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, cooling towers, and associated HVAC infrastructure.
- Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, commissioning, and performance optimization for HVAC and data centre cooling systems.
- Lead and supervise technicians or subcontractors to ensure timely and quality completion of assigned tasks.
- Communicate with data centre customers to coordinate work schedules, address concerns, provide updates, and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Support planning, documentation, and reporting for maintenance schedules and operational activities.
- Work closely with vendors and contractors for job coordination and materials sourcing.
- Ensure all work follows relevant EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards and internal quality requirements.
- Respond to urgent or unplanned maintenance needs; willingness to work extended or irregular hours as required by data centre operations.
- Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of HVAC experience, preferably supporting data centre operations or mission‑critical cooling systems.
- Strong technical expertise in chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, HVAC system controls, and cooling optimization.
