Service engineer
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Design & Development: Create technical drawings and layouts for machinery using CAD software.
- Testing & Analysis: Set up and run tests on components or complete units, analyzing data to compare results with design specifications.
- Manufacturing & Assembly: Build, install, and modify mechanical components, tools, and industrial machinery.
- Maintenance & Repair: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix faults in mechanical systems and equipment.
- Documentation: Record test results, prepare reports, and maintain accurate documentation of, maintenance, and safety inspections.
- Cost Estimation: Calculate labor costs, material requirements, and equipment lifespan.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical circuits.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and data analysis tools.
- Education: Typically an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology.
- Soft Skills: Problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to communicate technical information effectively.
Work Environment
Technicians often work in manufacturing plants, research and development labs,
or on-site, frequently wearing safety gear like steel-capped boots and
high-visibility clothing
