Help Keep Critical Marine Systems Performing Around the World.

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Service Support Engineer at Rosyth, near Dunfermline, Fife.

The role

As a Service Support Engineer, you'll become the technical focal point for a portfolio of advanced marine systems operating across the globe. This is an exciting opportunity to combine engineering expertise with customer-focused problem solving in a highly specialist environment. You'll work directly with customers to resolve complex technical challenges, improve system performance, and help ensure vessels operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.

This role offers the chance to see the real-world impact of your work, influencing operational performance while collaborating with engineering, field service, project, and product teams. Whether you're solving technical issues, identifying improvements, or supporting future product development, you'll play a key role in delivering innovative solutions that make a difference.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Acting as the primary technical point of contact for customers across a portfolio of vessels and operators.
  • Investigating and resolving complex engineering issues across electrical, control and instrumentation, mechanical, process, and marine systems.
  • Managing technical enquiries, service requests, and warranty cases from diagnosis through to resolution.
  • Monitoring fleet performance, identifying trends, and recommending improvements to enhance reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborating with engineering, project, field service, and product teams to drive continuous improvement and support future product development.

This is a full-time, 37-hour per week role based at Rosyth. Hybrid working patterns are available, with an expectation of two days per week in the office. Travel to customer and operational sites will be expected, including occasional short-notice travel.

Essential experience of the Service Support Engineer:

  • Experience within Service Engineering, Technical Support, Field Service, Maintenance, Commissioning, or Operational Engineering environments supporting complex industrial equipment.
  • Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills across electrical, control and instrumentation, mechanical, process, automation, or marine systems.
  • Proven ability to manage technical issues from investigation through to successful resolution.
  • Experience working directly with customers, operators, or end users and building effective working relationships.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities while delivering high levels of technical and customer support.

Qualifications for the Service Support Engineer:

  • Degree, Higher National Diploma, Higher National Certificate, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • Alternatively, substantial relevant engineering experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Strong technical foundation in either electrical and control systems or mechanical and process engineering disciplines.
