Service Technician

Position Summary:
Vacaville Mitsubishi is seeking a skilled Automotive Service Technician to diagnose, maintain, and repair customer vehicles safely and accurately. The Technician works closely with Service Advisors and other service employees to provide high-quality repairs while following manufacturer, dealership, and applicable safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicles within the technician's training and qualifications.
• Perform assigned repairs according to manufacturer specifications and accepted industry practices.
• Perform multi-point inspections and accurately document findings.
• Communicate diagnostic findings and repair recommendations.
• Document work performed, parts required, and additional concerns.
• Safely use diagnostic equipment, tools, vehicle lifts, and other shop equipment.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership processes.
• Complete required manufacturer and dealership training.
• Maintain an organized and safe work area.
• Properly handle automotive fluids, chemicals, batteries, and other shop materials.
• Follow dealership safety policies and applicable workplace-safety requirements.
• Protect customer vehicles and property.
• Perform only work for which the employee has appropriate training, certification, or licensing when legally required.

*Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Record repair times and maintain productivity standards.
• Communicate additional repair recommendations to the Service Advisor.
• Follow OSHA, EPA, dealership, and manufacturer safety procedures.

Qualifications:
Required
High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Previous automotive repair experience (or equivalent vocational training).
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
Ability to use computerized diagnostic equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to pass dealership background screening.

Preferred:
ASE Certifications (A1–A8 or Master Technician).
Mitsubishi Motors Certification.
Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Certification.
Previous dealership experience.
California Smog Inspector and/or Repair Technician License (if applicable).
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems.
Ability to read wiring diagrams and service manuals.
Proficiency with scan tools and computerized diagnostic equipment.
Strong attention to detail.
Time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Ability to adapt to changing technology and complete ongoing manufacturer training.
Physical Requirements

The employee must regularly:

Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and crawl for extended periods.
Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
Operate hydraulic lifts and shop equipment.
Work underneath vehicles.
Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
Work in varying indoor temperatures and occasionally outdoors.
