Position Summary
The Technician I – Mechanical Service is an entry-level HVAC/R service role responsible for performing preventative maintenance and assisting with identification of basic system performance issues. Working primarily in the Central Indiana region, this position supports commercial and industrial customers by maintaining a wide range of mechanical systems. The Technician I works with limited supervision while continuing to develop technical skills required for more advanced service and diagnostic responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform preventative maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC/R equipment
- Inspect systems and identify basic performance, efficiency, or operational concerns during maintenance activities
- Maintain equipment including boilers, chillers, refrigeration units, air handling units, hydronic systems, makeup air units, temperature controls, heat pumps, paint booths, and exhaust fans
- Obtain vendor pricing for repair parts as required
- Prepare and submit service reports, quotes, and work orders accurately and on time using the Service Field App
- Enter detailed site, equipment, and customer information into the service management system
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding work performed, findings, and recommendations
- Maintain regular communication with dispatch and service support to ensure efficient scheduling and workflow
- Support senior technicians, supervisors, and teammates with related service tasks as assigned
- Demonstrate continuous skill development toward diagnosing and repairing HVAC/R system issues
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times
