SERVICE TECHNICIAN LEVEL I

Danner’s Incorporated is looking for a dependable, motivated individual to join our Video Division as a Service Technician Level I.
This is an entry-level opportunity for someone interested in developing hands-on technical skills while working with security surveillance systems, cameras, cabling, monitoring technology, and related equipment.
You will work alongside experienced technicians and management while learning the installation, servicing, monitoring, and maintenance of surveillance systems.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Service Technician Level I, you will support our senior technicians and Video Division team with installations, service calls, equipment preparation, documentation, and customer support.
Installation & Setup
- Assist senior technicians with the installation of surveillance cameras, cabling, and related hardware.
- Feed, route, and secure cables through access holes, roof spaces, walls, and other areas as required.
- Assist with positioning and adjusting cameras to provide proper coverage based on project requirements.
- Fabricate and assemble basic camera systems using hand tools and hardware.
- Learn proper installation techniques and industry practices from experienced technicians.
Monitoring & Technology
- Learn and operate surveillance monitoring and connection software, including platforms such as Avigilon and HikVision.
- Monitor live camera feeds for suspicious activity and follow established security procedures.
- Assist with dispatching calls to law enforcement when necessary and as directed by established procedures.
- Develop an understanding of bandwidth requirements, connection speeds, and environmental factors that can affect system performance.
- Learn new technologies, software, equipment, and procedures as the Video Division continues to grow.
Equipment & Field Support
- Prepare equipment and supplies for field crews, ensuring technicians have the tools and materials needed for each job.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment and supplies.
- Operate forklifts or skid-steer loaders when properly trained and certified.
- Inspect equipment and vehicles using established checklists to ensure readiness and safety compliance.
- Track equipment use, maintenance, and job-related paperwork accurately.
Quality Control & Documentation
- Complete job checklists, reports, and required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Perform visual inspections of completed work to help ensure quality standards are met.
- Assist management with quality-control and accountability procedures.
- Maintain documentation required for compliance, safety audits, and client confirmation.
Customer Service & Communication
- Interact professionally with customers during site visits and service calls.
- Communicate project needs, concerns, issues, and updates to sales staff, management, and senior technicians.
- Represent Danner’s Incorporated professionally when working at customer locations.
- Maintain a courteous, helpful, and professional attitude with customers and coworkers.

You will be expected to:
- Wear and properly maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Successfully complete assigned safety training, which may include:
- Boom Lift
- Scissor Lift
- Fall Protection
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

- Immediately report unsafe conditions, hazards, or safety violations to management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Ability to successfully complete a Fit Test, drug test, and background check.
- Basic computer proficiency with Windows-based programs.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to type approximately 65 words per minute.
- Basic math, reading, writing, and documentation skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies, software, monitoring systems, and technical procedures.
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to read spreadsheets, lists, work orders, and other job-related documents.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to lift and load heavy equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Strong initiative, sense of urgency, and follow-through.
- Team-oriented attitude and willingness to work in a growing, fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience is helpful, but not required for this entry-level position.
Preferred experience includes:
- Surveillance camera installation.
- Security system installation or service.
- Technical support.
- Low-voltage electrical work.
- Cabling or structured wiring.
- Experience with Avigilon, HikVision, or similar surveillance platforms.
- General construction, maintenance, or hands-on mechanical experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is primarily field-based and may require working in a variety of environments and conditions.
The position requires the ability to:
- Sit, stand, walk, and climb ladders for extended periods.
- Work with hand tools and technical equipment.
- Perform repetitive manual tasks when necessary.
- Handle cabling, cameras, equipment, and other materials.
- Work indoors and outdoors.
- Work in hot, cold, wet, windy, and other inclement weather conditions.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Maintain sufficient close and distant vision, with corrective lenses if necessary.
- Work safely at elevated heights when properly trained and equipped.
- Travel to customer and job sites as required.
- Maintain the physical ability necessary to safely perform assigned duties.
