As we continue to grow our Service Division, we are looking for a skilled and dependable Service Technician to support our commercial customers throughout the Sterling, Virginia and DMV area. This role is ideal for a hands-on HVAC professional who enjoys troubleshooting, solving problems, and providing high-quality service while building strong relationships with customers.
What You'll Do
Service & Maintain HVAC Systems

Perform service, maintenance, and repairs on commercial HVAC and mechanical equipment

Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment and system issues to determine appropriate solutions

Perform preventive maintenance to improve system reliability, performance, and efficiency

Inspect equipment and identify potential issues before they lead to larger system failures
-
Complete repairs and component replacements according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards

Verify proper system operation following service and repairs
Troubleshoot & Solve Problems

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues within commercial HVAC systems

Read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals

Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify system problems

Recommend appropriate repairs, replacements, or system improvements

Communicate complex technical issues clearly to customers and internal Service team members
Support Our Customers

Respond professionally to scheduled service calls and customer needs
-
Communicate with customers regarding equipment conditions, recommended repairs, and completed work
-
Provide clear explanations of service findings and available solutions
-
Build strong customer relationships through reliable, responsive, and professional service

Represent VMG professionally at customer facilities and jobsites

Coordinate with Service Managers, Dispatchers, and other technicians to ensure customer needs are addressed
Maintain Safety & Documentation
-
Follow VMG safety policies, OSHA requirements, and industry best practices
-
Maintain company tools, equipment, and service vehicles in safe working condition

Complete service tickets, work orders, maintenance reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time

Maintain clean and organized work areas
-
Participate in on-call or after-hours service rotation as required
What You Bring
-
2+ years of commercial HVAC service, maintenance, or related mechanical experience
-
Working knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment and mechanical systems
-
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Basic understanding of electrical components and HVAC controls

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation

Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
-
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Service team

Strong communication and customer service skills
-
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds
-
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred Experience
-
Experience servicing commercial HVAC and mechanical equipment

EPA certification
-
Experience with preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting

Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC controls
-
Experience working with multiple commercial HVAC equipment manufacturers
-
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
