Contract | Outside IR35 | Remote
We are looking for an experienced Service Transition Manager to lead the transition of several digital services into live operational support. Working across multiple technical and business teams, you will ensure each service is operationally ready, fully supportable and formally accepted before go-live.
The Role
You will oversee service discovery, operational readiness, service acceptance, knowledge transfer and Early Life Support across a portfolio of digital services. This will involve establishing clear support arrangements, coordinating governance and assurance activities, and addressing any operational gaps that could affect a successful transition into BAU.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Service Design Packages covering service dependencies, support arrangements, security, resilience, capacity and operational requirements.
- Lead Operational Readiness Assessments and define clear service acceptance criteria, evidence and approval processes.
- Design L1/L2/L3 support and operating models, including service ownership, supplier responsibilities, escalation routes and RACI/RAS documentation.
- Coordinate Service Validation and Testing, Change Enablement, Release Management and governance approvals ahead of go-live.
- Manage knowledge transfer and assure runbooks, operating procedures, knowledge articles and supporting documentation.
- Plan Early Life Support, monitor transition risks and maintain continual improvement actions through to completion.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience as a Service Transition Manager, Service Transition Lead or in a comparable service management role.
- Strong practical knowledge of ITIL 4 and experience transitioning digital or technology services into live operations.
- Demonstrable experience managing operational readiness, service acceptance and go-live assurance.
- Experience producing Service Design Packages, Operational Readiness Assessments and service acceptance documentation.
- Strong understanding of support models, service ownership, RACI/RAS structures and operational responsibilities.
- Experience defining or managing SLRs, SLAs and OLAs.
- Proven ability to coordinate knowledge transfer, operational handover and the production of runbooks and support procedures.
- Strong governance, stakeholder management and risk, issue and dependency management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities across several services and stakeholder groups.
Desirable
- Experience within a complex enterprise or public-sector environment.
- ITIL 4 certification.
- Experience with CMDBs and service dependency mapping.
- Experience coordinating Early Life Support and transition exit activities.
- Familiarity with internal and third-party supplier support models.
- Experience using service management platforms and governance frameworks.
