Description
Location: Fully Remote
Clearance: Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance
Program Overview
Our USAF client is a DoD-wide enterprise service capability designed to advance the DoD DevSecOps initiative by leveraging modern software development, security, and operational best practices across multiple classification levels. The main customer-facing team provides technical support and guidance throughout the customer lifecycle, enabling users to access and effectively utilize the PAAS offerings and capabilities.
GXM is seeking a qualified mid-level ServiceNow Developer to support the transition, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of an enterprise ServiceNow environment in support of a mission-critical IT program. The developer will contribute to the successful transition to ServiceNow, support platform configuration and integration activities, and provide recurring development and sustainment support following initial implementation and operational handover.
The successful candidate will independently execute assigned development tasks, translate business and technical requirements into scalable platform solutions, and collaborate with program stakeholders, system administrators, process owners, and technical teams to ensure the platform meets operational needs. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining ServiceNow applications, workflows, integrations, automation, and platform configurations in accordance with approved architecture, security requirements, and development best practices.
Workload is expected to be higher during the initial transition, implementation, and stabilization periods. Following transition, the role is expected to operate on a part-time basis, providing recurring platform maintenance, enhancements, defect remediation, and continuous improvement in accordance with an established schedule and prioritized backlog.
Key Responsibilities
ServiceNow Transition and Implementation
• Support planning and execution of the transition to the ServiceNow platform, including requirements validation, configuration review, and technical implementation activities.
• Assist with the assessment and documentation of existing processes, workflows, integrations, and operational requirements.
• Develop, configure, and validate ServiceNow capabilities in accordance with approved requirements and the program's implementation approach.
• Support integration testing, user acceptance testing, cutover activities, operational handover, and post-transition stabilization, as applicable.
• Identify implementation risks, technical dependencies, configuration gaps, and opportunities to improve platform functionality.
Application Development and Platform Configuration
• Develop, customize, and maintain ServiceNow applications, modules, workflows, and scoped applications.
• Configure platform components, including business rules, client scripts, UI policies, access control lists (ACLs), Script Includes, and system properties.
• Develop and maintain Flow Designer workflows, automated tasks, and reusable application components.
• Apply ServiceNow development best practices to support maintainability, scalability, performance, and upgrade compatibility.
Integration and Automation
• Design, implement, test, and maintain integrations between ServiceNow and other enterprise systems using APIs, and applicable integration capabilities.
• Troubleshoot integration failures, data synchronization issues, authentication problems, and related platform dependencies.
• Develop automation and workflow improvements that reduce manual effort, improve service delivery, and support operational efficiency.
Recurring Sustainment and Continuous Improvement
• Provide scheduled, part-time development and sustainment support following the initial transition and stabilization period.
• Review and refine platform functionality, workflows, configurations, and integrations on a recurring basis.
• Evaluate enhancement requests, prioritize technical work with stakeholders, and implement approved changes through established change-control processes.
• Address defects, technical debt, performance issues, and configuration inconsistencies.
• Support platform releases, upgrades, regression testing, and compatibility validation as required by the contract and platform operating model.
• Maintain a prioritized development backlog and recommend improvements aligned with operational needs and program objectives.
Testing, Security, and Quality Assurance
• Develop and execute unit, integration, regression, and other appropriate testing activities.
• Validate changes before deployment to minimize operational disruption and prevent unintended impacts to existing functionality.
• Follow applicable security requirements, least-privilege principles, secure coding practices, and organizational configuration-management standards.
• Support vulnerability remediation, security-related configuration updates, and audit or compliance activities within the scope of the role.
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, configuration records, integration documentation, workflow diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Document platform changes, dependencies, testing results, and deployment procedures.
• Support knowledge transfer to designated administrators, developers, and operational personnel to promote maintainability and continuity.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Technical Support
• Work with stakeholders, project managers, process owners, administrators, and technical teams to translate requirements into effective platform solutions.
• Communicate development progress, technical risks, dependencies, and recommendations.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance to administrators and authorized users as needed.
