Summary

Builds and configures ServiceNow ITSM applications, workflows, CMDB, and integrations (JavaScript scripting, Flow Designer, REST/SOAP) for a healthcare tech company in Hyderabad, and develops Python/PySpark data pipelines and SQL for automation and analytics. Requires 6-10 years' experience, 3+ in ServiceNow, and active use of AI coding tools.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6-10 years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on ServiceNow development.
  • Strong ServiceNow development skills: JavaScript scripting (GlideRecord, Script Includes, Business Rules, Client Scripts), Flow Designer, and Service Catalog configuration.
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow ITSM modules and the CMDB.
  • Experience building ServiceNow integrations with REST/SOAP, Scripted REST APIs, Import Sets, and Transform Maps.
  • Strong Python (3.x) programming skills, including working with REST APIs, data processing libraries (pandas), and automated testing (pytest).
  • Hands-on PySpark experience: DataFrame API, Spark SQL, joins and aggregations, and performance tuning.
  • Strong SQL skills for data analysis, validation, and transformation.
  • Experience with Git-based workflows and Agile/Scrum delivery.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills for working effectively with onshore and offshore team members.

ServiceNow Platform Development

  • Design, develop, and configure ServiceNow applications and workflows across ITSM (Incident, Problem, Change, Request), Service Catalog, and CMDB, using server-side and client-side scripting (Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions).
  • Build automation using Flow Designer and Integration Hub, and develop custom scoped applications that follow ServiceNow best practices.
  • Build and maintain integrations using REST and SOAP, Scripted REST APIs, Import Sets, Transform Maps, and MID Server, connecting ServiceNow with internal and external systems.
  • Manage roles, ACLs, and data security, and promote changes across instances using update sets or source control.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform defects, performance issues, and production incidents, including root-cause analysis.

Python Automation & PySpark Data Engineering

  • Write Python for ServiceNow automation, data extraction, and integration using the ServiceNow REST APIs (such as the Table API), and for validation and utility tooling.
  • Build PySpark pipelines to ingest, clean, transform, and aggregate large volumes of ServiceNow and operational data (incidents, changes, CMDB, SLA data) on a distributed processing platform.
  • Optimize Spark jobs for performance and cost, including partitioning, join strategy, caching, and efficient file formats such as Parquet.
  • Build curated datasets and data models for reporting, dashboards, and analytics, with data quality checks, reconciliation, and lineage.
  • Schedule and monitor pipelines using an orchestration tool such as Airflow, AWS Glue, or Step Functions.

AI-Assisted Engineering (Required)

  • Active, consistent use of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent) in daily work, for code generation, test writing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Validates all AI-generated code and scripts before committing or deploying them, including ServiceNow scripts and Spark transformations, and never treats AI output as production-ready without review.
  • Handles prompts responsibly: never includes PHI, member or sensitive customer data, instance credentials, or proprietary code in prompts sent to external AI tools.
  • Actively looks for ways to use AI assistance to improve productivity and code quality, and shares effective techniques with teammates.
