The Role

As a Traditional Negotiator, you'll sit at the intersection of strategic negotiation and real human connection.

You'll negotiate directly with creditors, collection agencies, and attorney offices to secure favorable settlements for our clients. At the same time, you'll help clients understand their options, evaluate their accounts, and navigate the path toward financial resolution.

This role requires confidence, emotional intelligence, strong financial and mathematical skills, disciplined execution, and the ability to build trust during difficult conversations.

Success in this position means delivering results for both our clients and the business while maintaining a high standard of professionalism, accuracy, and client care.

This position is ON-SITE in Richardson, TX, 5 days a week.


What You'll Do

  • Negotiate on behalf of our clients - Work directly with creditors, collection agencies, and attorney offices to secure favorable settlement agreements.

  • Own your pipeline - Manage an open queue of client accounts and consistently achieve monthly production expectations that support department goals.

  • Be the financial strategist - Review client accounts and determine the funds and timelines necessary to complete settlements and ensure company fees are paid according to department guidelines.

  • Build and maintain relationships - Serve as a key point of contact between DebtBlue and creditors throughout the negotiation process.

  • Know your numbers - Calculate acceptable settlement percentages and structure offers within established department guidelines.

  • Track the details - Maintain accurate records of client settlements, payments, settlement letters, and related correspondence.

  • Protect the client experience - Communicate clearly and professionally while helping clients navigate the settlement process.

  • Support department operations - Perform additional duties as needed to support the success of the Negotiations Department.

What Makes You a Fit

  • 3+ years of experience in customer service, collections, negotiation, or a related field preferred

  • Strong ability to build rapport and establish trust quickly, especially during difficult conversations

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills

  • Ability to work within structured policies, procedures, and negotiation guidelines

  • Self-directed with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve goals with minimal supervision

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, CRM/database systems, and other client service tools

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a strong plus

Earning Potential That Rewards Performance

At DebtBlue, your production has a direct impact on your earning potential.

You'll start at a $20/hour base pay, with the opportunity to earn additional performance-based bonuses. Our top negotiators are earning approximately $3,000–$3,500 per month in bonuses, with uncapped earning potential beyond that.
