SharePoint Architect/ Senior Technical Architect
Summary
Designs, implements, and supports enterprise SharePoint Server solutions in on-premises and hybrid environments, covering search architecture, permissions and security trimming, IAM integration, migrations, and HA/DR, while automating admin tasks with PowerShell. Core stack: SharePoint Server, Windows Server, IIS, SQL Server, Active Directory/Entra ID.
We are looking for an experienced SharePoint Architect / Senior Technical Architect to design, implement and support enterprise SharePoint solutions in a secure, large-scale environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in SharePoint Server, enterprise search, security, integration and platform architecture, with the ability to work closely with business stakeholders, infrastructure teams and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise SharePoint architecture across on-premises and hybrid environments.
- Configure and optimise SharePoint Search Services, including search topology, content sources, crawl schedules, search schema, managed properties and crawled properties.
- Design secure and scalable SharePoint solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and security requirements.
- Manage SharePoint farms, web applications, service applications, site collections and Central Administration.
- Configure authentication, authorisation, permissions and security trimming.
- Integrate SharePoint with Active Directory, Entra ID, ADFS and other IAM solutions.
- Support enterprise content crawling, indexing and search optimisation.
- Work on integration between SharePoint and external enterprise search or AI-enabled retrieval platforms.
- Support SharePoint migration, upgrades, patching and platform modernisation.
- Design and support high availability, disaster recovery, backup and failover solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex SharePoint, IIS, SQL Server, Windows Server and infrastructure-related issues.
- Automate administration and operational tasks using PowerShell.
- Produce solution architecture documents, HLD/LLD, technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Work closely with infrastructure, application, security and vendor teams.
- Provide technical guidance during implementation, testing, deployment and production support.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience with SharePoint Server, preferably SharePoint 2016, 2019 or Subscription Edition.
- Experience with SharePoint Online is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of SharePoint Search Service Application and enterprise search architecture.
- Hands-on experience with content sources, crawls, managed/crawled properties, indexing and search schema.
- Strong knowledge of SharePoint permissions, authentication and security trimming.
- Experience with Windows Server, IIS, SQL Server and Active Directory.
- Experience with SharePoint migrations, upgrades and production troubleshooting.
- Strong PowerShell scripting experience.
- Good understanding of security, HA/DR and enterprise infrastructure.
- Strong stakeholder communication and technical documentation skills.
Good to Have
- Experience with SPFx, .NET/C#, JavaScript/TypeScript or React.
- Experience with Microsoft Graph, Azure, Microsoft 365 or Entra ID.
- Experience with ShareGate or other SharePoint migration tools.
- Exposure to enterprise search platforms such as Lucidworks, Micro Focus IDOL or OpenText.
- Experience integrating SharePoint content with AI, RAG or intelligent search solutions.
- Experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
- PL-600 or relevant Microsoft certifications would be advantageous
