SharePoint Migration Engineer
Role Overview
The SharePoint Migration Engineer leads the secure and seamless transition of enterprise documents and content from an on-premises SharePoint 2016 Farm to SharePoint Online (Microsoft 365) and Microsoft Teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Migration Analysis: Conduct comprehensive site inventories, identify potential content bottlenecks (e.g., unsupported characters, file size limits), and perform proactive risk assessments.
- Migration Execution: Utilize ShareGate Migrate to effectively batch, migrate, and structure enterprise content across target platforms.
- Data Integrity & Mapping: Ensure high fidelity during data transfer by accurately mapping and preserving metadata, version histories, custom permissions, and taxonomy/term stores.
- Troubleshooting & Remediation: Swiftly diagnose migration failures, resolve API throttling issues, and remediate broken links or legacy customizations.
- Post-Migration Validation: Partner with key stakeholders and business users to perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and verify site functionality.
- User Support: Provide dedicated technical assistance and guidance to end-users throughout the migration lifecycle.
Technical Skills
- Core Architecture: Fundamental understanding of SharePoint Server (On-Premises), SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Teams architectures.
- Migration Tools: Hands-on experience or working knowledge of ShareGate Migrate.
- Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in PowerShell for managing, automating, and troubleshooting complex SharePoint tasks.
- Microsoft 365 Ecosystem: Solid familiarity with SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive for Business.
- Identity & Permissions: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) for accurate user and group permission mapping.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 1+ years of experience managing and migrating enterprise SharePoint environments.
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Preferred, but not required).
- Certifications: Microsoft 365 certifications (e.g., Teams Administrator Associate, Enterprise Administrator Expert) are highly desirable.
Singapore Residency Status
- Government Clearance: A Government Category 2 security clearance is required, and Singapore citizenship or permanent residence status is mandatory.
