Position Summary:

Sheet Metal Duct Installer with approximately 5 years of hands-on experience to join our field installation team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, assembling, and altering commercial and residential HVAC ductwork systems directly from blueprints and schematics. The ideal candidate can work independently with minimal supervision, handle complex field layouts, make precise adjustments on-site, and safely coordinate with other construction trades.

Core Responsibilities

  • System Installation: Layout, hang, and secure commercial and residential sheet metal ductwork, including supply, return, exhaust, and ventilation lines.
  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret mechanical blueprints, architectural drawings, and job specifications to determine exact layouts, structural pathways, and material needs.
  • Field Alterations: Accurately measure, cut, and drill sheet metal to fabricate custom field pieces on-site (e.g., offsets, elbows, plenums, transitions) using hand and power tools.
  • Component Integration: Install mechanical accessories, including fire/smoke dampers, terminal unit boxes, VAV boxes, grilles, registers, diffusers, and louvers according to building codes.
  • Sealing & Testing: Seal all duct connections using code-compliant mastics or gaskets and perform duct pressure testing to ensure optimal airflow and leak prevention.
  • Equipment Rigging: Layout and install duct hangers, threaded rods, and support systems using lasers, hammer drills, and anchoring systems.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Coordinate seamlessly with general contractors, electricians, and plumbers to prevent layout conflicts. Provide basic field guidance and safety mentorship to apprentices or junior installers.
