Sheet Metal Fabricator Apprentice
Job Summary
The Sheet Metal Apprentice supports the fabrication team by learning and performing basic sheet metal fabrication tasks while developing the skills necessary to become a skilled fabricator. This role assists with material preparation, equipment operation, shop organization, and quality control while working under the guidance of experienced fabricators.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the fabrication of ductwork and sheet metal components
- Learn to read shop drawings and blueprints
- Measure, cut, and prepare materials for fabrication
- Operate basic shop tools and equipment safely
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Support inventory and material handling activities
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop technical skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Trade school or shop experience is a plus, but not required
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to read a tape measure
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn a skilled trade
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a shop environment
