Role Overview
As the team’s Sheet Metal Specialist, you will be responsible for the fabrication of custom sheet metal components supporting Skywalker Roofing’s residential and commercial roofing operations. As an essential part of the team and reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will work to deliver high-quality fabricated materials, maintain fabrication equipment and warehouse operations, and support field teams through reliable production and inventory management.
You will be part of a very collaborative, very agile team working collectively to fulfill our mission of saving our communities from unscrupulous contractors. Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate custom sheet metal components including chimney caps, metal roof trim, coping, edge metal, flashing, counterflashing, drip edge, and other specialty products.
- Interpret measurements, drawings, field dimensions, and specifications to produce accurate and professional-grade products.
- Operate and maintain brakes, shears, roll-forming machines, power tools, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure quality control by inspecting fabricated products for accuracy, consistency, watertight integrity, and adherence to company standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient fabrication shop and warehouse environment.
- Manage inventory levels of sheet metal materials, roofing supplies, fasteners, and related products.
- Assist with material staging and coordination to support project schedules and field operations.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on company trailers, fabrication equipment, and related assets.
- Promote a strong culture of safety by following company procedures and maintaining accountability for equipment, materials, and workmanship.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on sheet metal fabrication experience.
- Proven ability to independently fabricate roofing-related sheet metal products with minimal supervision.
- Experience operating sheet metal brakes, shears, and related fabrication equipment.
- Ability to accurately measure, lay out, cut, bend, form, and assemble sheet metal components.
- Ability to read and interpret measurements, sketches, drawings, blueprints, and job specifications.
- Strong understanding of residential and commercial roofing sheet metal applications preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment and trailer maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, organization, accountability, and dependability.
- Ability to safely lift and handle sheet metal materials, tools, equipment, and roofing products as required.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
