About the Opportunity

Join OCU Group on a major new 132kV power infrastructure project in the Suffolk area, supporting the delivery of critical cable route and ducting works. This is a standalone role where you’ll take ownership of SHESQ performance across the project from day one.

We’re looking for an experienced SHESQ Manager professional with proven HV/LV project experience who can hit the ground running, build strong relationships on site, and provide visible leadership without close supervision. You’ll play a key role in driving a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance, and supporting safe delivery of a live infrastructure project.

  • Lead all SHEQ activities across a major 132kV cable route and ducting project
  • Act as the primary SHEQ representative on site, supporting operational teams and subcontractors
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and assurance activities to ensure compliance with company procedures, legislation, and client requirements
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions and lessons learned are implemented
  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and SHEQ briefings to site teams
  • Support risk assessments, safe systems of work, and project SHEQ planning
  • Monitor SHEQ performance and drive continuous improvement
  • Produce reports and maintain accurate SHEQ records

Essential
  • Experience in a Senior SHEQ Advisor, SHEQ Advisor, HSQE Advisor, or HSE Advisor role within construction, infrastructure, utilities, power, engineering, or water environments
  • Proven HV/LV project experience is essential
  • Previous experience on cable installation, ducting, or electrical infrastructure projects
  • Experience working on live construction / infrastructure sites
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • IOSH membership or working towards
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Ability to work independently in a standalone role
  • Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
  • Experience working on 132kV, HV, or EHV projects
  • Experience within principal contractor environments
  • Knowledge of ISO management systems
  • IEMA qualification or environmental exposure
  • Water/utilities background (transferable with HV/LV experience)
  • Armed Forces background (engineering/technical roles advantageous)
