Position Summary
The Shift Leader is responsible for leading restaurant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring excellent customer service, food safety, team performance, and operational standards. The Shift Leader acts as the manager-on-duty when scheduled, supporting the Restaurant General Manager and Assistant Manager while developing team members and driving results.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Execution
• Lead assigned shifts to ensure smooth, efficient restaurant operations
• Ensure all food is prepared, held, and served according to KFC standards
• Monitor speed of service, order accuracy, and product quality
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
• Complete shift checklists, cash handling, deposits (if applicable), and required paperwork
Customer Experience
• Ensure every customer is greeted promptly and served with hospitality
• Address customer concerns quickly and professionally
• Monitor dining room, drive-thru, and front counter for cleanliness and flow
• Reinforce service standards and friendly interaction with every guest
Team Leadership
• Lead, coach, and motivate team members during the shift
• Assign positions and adjust staffing based on business needs
• Provide real-time coaching and feedback
• Ensure all team members follow uniform and appearance standards
• Support training of new hires and cross-training of existing team members
People & Labor Management
• Execute break schedules and ensure proper coverage
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels for volume
• Support labor goals by managing productivity and positioning
• Communicate staffing or performance issues to management
Safety & Compliance
• Ensure a safe working environment for employees and guests
• Follow and enforce company policies and procedures
• Report incidents, equipment issues, or safety concerns promptly
Qualifications
• Previous experience in quick service or restaurant leadership preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced environment
• Basic math and cash-handling skills
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
