Industrial Shipping and Receiving Manager
This individual will oversee the daily operations of a warehouse, supervising staff, managing inventory, and handling all incoming and outgoing shipments. Key responsibilities include coordinating logistics, ensuring accurate record-keeping, maintaining safety protocols, and managing relationships with vendors and carriers. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective warehouse operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Train, and schedule warehouse personnel. Supervise and guide staff to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Oversee all incoming and outgoing shipments, including unloading, sorting, and proper placement of goods. Track shipments and maintain accurate documentation for all deliveries and receipts.
- Take inventory of stock and maintain accurate records of inventory levels. Ensure adequate stock is available and coordinate with other departments or procurement teams.
- Determine shipping priorities, methods, and routes. Inspect loading operations and ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
- Communicate with vendors and carriers to ensure timely delivery and negotiate contracts and transportation costs.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure the warehouse environment is clean, safe, and organized. Inspect equipment and report maintenance issues.
- Prepare and present reports on shipping and receiving activities, efficiency, and costs to senior management.
- Building and assembling shipping crates and containers.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is typically the minimum requirement, with experience in shipping and receiving often preferred.
- Experience with international shipping and receiving.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, familiarity with shipping software (e.g., FedEx, UPS), and knowledge of inventory management practices.
- Ability to lift heavy packages and work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
