Shipping and Receiving Manager

Anderson Express is Hiring!

Anderson Express (AE) – Muskegon, MI

Anderson Express is a women-owned, world-class manufacturer specializing in aluminum casting, CNC machining, and assembly of customer-engineered components. We are a growing Tier 1 supplier serving the automotive, military, and power generation markets.

We are the go-to supplier for Ford Motor Company on complex, fast-moving, highly engineered programs that demand precision, urgency, and problem-solving at a high level.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a high-energy, quick-thinking Shipping & Receiving Manager to join our team and help take Anderson Express to the next level.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this hands-on leadership position is responsible for leading the Shipping & Receiving team and ensuring all incoming and outgoing materials are handled accurately, efficiently, and on time.

This role is about more than moving material - it is about protecting customer relationships, maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production, controlling costs, and making sure the operation has what it needs to succeed.

What You Will Own

Team Leadership & Accountability

Lead, coach, and develop the Shipping & Receiving team.

Establish clear expectations for safety, accuracy, productivity, and customer service.

Create a culture of accountability, teamwork, urgency, and continuous improvement.

Lead by example with a hands-on, get-it-done approach and drive issues to resolution.

Shipping & Receiving Execution

Lead daily shipping and receiving operations and ensure shipments are accurate and on time.

Verify shipments against sales orders, invoices, packing lists, and other records.

Prepare bills of lading, customs documents, ASNs, and other required paperwork.

Coordinate with carriers, customers, and internal teams to resolve shortages, delays, and discrepancies.

Determine best-value shipping methods, routes, and rates.

Support expedited and drop-in requests and ensure materials are properly packed, labeled, and routed.

Inventory, Dunnage & ERP Discipline

Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records and ensure ERP transactions reflect actual material movement.

Learn, maximize, and continuously improve the use of Global Shop Solutions (GSS).

Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies and process errors.

Track customer dunnage and coordinate timely returns.

Maintain shipping supplies and update customer portals with required logistics information.

Continuous Improvement

Drive improvements that increase accuracy, reduce cost, improve customer service, and strengthen operational performance.

Develop corrective actions and partner with Operations, Quality, Purchasing, and other departments to eliminate recurring problems.

Help build a scalable shipping and receiving operation that supports Anderson Express as we grow.

What Success Looks Like

Shipments leave on time and arrive accurately as expected.

Incoming materials are received efficiently and inventory transactions are accurate.

Customer requirements are consistently met.

Problems are identified, communicated, and escalated early.

The team operates with clear expectations and accountability.

Dunnage and freight costs are actively managed.

ERP data accurately reflects the physical movement of materials.

The department continuously improves rather than simply maintaining the status quo.

Who Thrives Here

This role is ideal for someone who takes ownership, moves with urgency, and does not wait to be told what to do. You should be comfortable leading people in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, recognizing problems, finding root causes, communicating clearly, and taking action.

You should be willing to roll up your sleeves and work alongside the team, balance competing priorities, and take personal responsibility for results.

This is not a manage-from-a-desk position. It requires, on the floor, daily engagement with people, material, systems, customers, carriers, and the operation.

Qualifications

7-10 years of experience in shipping and receiving management or a related role.

Manufacturing experience; Tier 1 (Ford) automotive experience strongly preferred.

MRP and/or ERP experience; Global Shop Solutions experience is a plus.

Strong critical-thinking, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.

Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to reprioritize, meet deadlines, and communicate across multiple channels.

Strong sense of urgency and commitment to customer service.
