Shipping Coordinator
Summary
Coordinates and schedules deliveries of steel materials, handles customer inquiries, and ensures compliance with safety and licensing requirements.
Primary Purpose of this Position:
Coordinate the loading and delivery of materials per commitments to customers in a cost-effective manner. Keep customers informed of upcoming deliveries and delays. Handle customer inquiries and complaints.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinate and schedule delivery personnel and equipment to ensure safe, cost effective and timely delivery of materials.When necessary, contract with outside carriers to provide cost effective and timely delivery of materials.
- Handle all customer inquiries and complaints regarding deliveries.
- Coordinate and schedule vendor shipments of major buyouts and drop-shipped materials to customers.
- Ensure proper vehicle and equipment licensing, safety and maintenance to meet all company and government requirements and regulations.
- Maintain all records, reports and files relating to vehicles and transportation equipment to ensure compliance with company, insurance and governmental requirements.
- Make specific recommendations on changes in methods and transportation equipment that will improve customer service and reduce costs.
