Summary:

The Shop Manager oversees the daily operations of a repair facility, including scheduling repair jobs, managing technicians, ensuring quality work is completed on time, communicating with Service and Production regarding repair status and costs, maintaining inventory of parts, and ensuring the shop adheres to safety regulations, all while maximizing efficiency and profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily operations for servicing customer and J‑Tech vehicles and equipment.
  • Assesses repair needs and provides accurate, timely cost estimates.
  • Reviews work orders to determine labor requirements and develops schedules that meet internal and external demands.
  • Supervises quality, safety, and turnaround time to ensure consistent performance standards.
  • Ensures the quality of all work performed by assigned team members.
  • Recommends equipment upgrades, staffing adjustments, and process improvements; may also recommend product or service modifications.
  • Coordinates with Fleet Support to ensure compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and compliant work environment by educating and directing employees on company policies and best practices.
  • Trains, supports, and guides employees in procedures, expectations, and best practices.
  • Trains, supports, and guides employees in day‑to‑day problem solving.
  • Participates in hiring decisions and conducts regular performance reviews to support employee development.
  • Addresses performance issues through coaching and corrective action when necessary.
  • Manages employee performance through counseling and resolution of concerns, complaints, or grievances.
  • Drives customer‑owned or company vehicles as needed.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma required and 5+ years’ experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to solve problems and be a team leader.
  • Strong communication skills and etiquette.
  • Willingness to engage in problem solving.
  • Eagerness to help with tasks as needed.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. DOT Medical Card is required, must pass physical to obtain card to qualify for position (J-Tech will facilitate). Must pass qualifications under J-Tech’s insurance carrier and be insurable.


Salary is negotiable depending on the candidate's skill set and experience.
