Shop Mechanic

Job Summary:
The Shop is responsible for maintaining and repairing Farmers Win Coop’s fleet and equipment, including both gas and diesel-powered units.

The Shop will ensure all equipment is safe, reliable, and compliant with DOT regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and mechanical repairs on FWC vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair gas and diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components.
• Perform DOT inspections and ensure all units meet or exceed DOT compliance before being returned to service.
• Install and service tires and fabricate hydraulic hoses as needed.
• Maintain accurate service records for all fleet equipment.
• Make cost-effective repair and maintenance recommendations to management.
• Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe at all times.
• Manage inventory efficiently and purchase parts from approved vendors at the best value.
• Respond to service calls and perform field repairs on downed units.
• Complete additional tasks or duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally.
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing in a physically demanding environment.
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to use hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
• Must be able to enter, exit, and operate vehicles and machinery safely.
• Tolerance for exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and mechanical hazards.

Qualifications:

• Experience in diesel and gas engine repair.
• Certification or ability to perform DOT inspections.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize workload.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.

Other Duties:
