As a shop operator, under direct supervision, you will set up, monitor and operate various pieces of equipment associated with the service and manufacturing facility requirements. This may include operation of multiple machines at one time. You may perform quality control and assurance activities as required by manufacturing/engineering specifications, internal procedures and ISO requirements.
As a service shop operator, you will be responsible for:
- Inspecting and repairing activities for centrifugal compressors, centrifugal pumps, gas turbines, and gearboxes.
- Performing visual inspection, geometrical inspection, non-destructive testing, and other tests, and recording results as per requirements and data sheets.
- Being responsible for quality control of the in-process parts, where all parts under operation need to be inspected after the operation is completed and results recorded in the data sheets.
- Performing product preservation as per procedures.
- Raising HSE concerns/observations as per the HSE per capita target.
- Conducting machine tool preventive maintenance and completing daily maintenance checklists.
- Reporting on fixture and tooling performance and rigidity evaluation, as well as testing of new fixture design and clamping methods.
- Performing 6S and housekeeping activities for the machines (interior and exterior), workstations, and surroundings, and participating in improvement projects and implementation of lean manufacturing.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent level of education and hands-on experience in operating mechanical machines.
- Have knowledge and experience to perform several types of inspections, repairs, balancing, and testing of centrifugal compressors and centrifugal pumps.
- Have more than 1 year of experience in repair activities of rotating equipment (centrifugal compressors, centrifugal pumps, gas turbines, and gearboxes).
- Have more than 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or service shops.
- Have experience in compressor or pump bundle and casing inspection, repair, assembly, and reassembly.
- Have experience in gas turbine component repairs.
- Have experience and knowledge in machining.
- Have experience and knowledge in balancing.
- The shop will initially operate during morning shifts only; however, the candidate needs to be able to work in a 2-3 shift pattern and work overtime if needed.
- Display mechanical aptitude or enthusiasm to learn and develop your skill set in a hands-on environment.
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to be a valuable team player.
