Shop Service Technician Intern
Summary:
The Shop Service Technician Intern is an entry-level, hands-on learning position designed for students currently enrolled in a diesel technology, heavy equipment technology, agricultural mechanics, or related technical program.
Responsibilities:
- Work alongside experienced Shop Service Technicians to gain practical experience in the inspection, maintenance, service, and repair of heavy construction equipment
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks under supervision, including lubrication and greasing, fluid and filter checks, battery inspection and maintenance, basic equipment inspections
- Assist technicians with disassembly and reassembly of equipment
- Learn to identify and properly use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment and shop equipment
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Learn to read and understand equipment service manuals, schematics and technical documentation
- Assist with hydraulic hose replacements
- Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting and repair under supervision
- Assist with equipment inspections and documenting service findings
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Learn and follow manufacturer service and repair procedures
- Maintain accurate records of work performed as directed
Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent years of relevant experience and/or training
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience servicing and maintenance of construction equipment
