Shot Peen Technician
SUMMARY: The Shot Peen Technician II is responsible for performing shot peening operations on aerospace components to enhance their fatigue resistance and overall durability. This role requires a thorough understanding of shot peening processes, equipment operation, and adherence to industry standards.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Follow verbal instructions, paper routers, customer specifications, and blueprints to layout work and prepare components for shot peening.
- Operate shot peening equipment, including adjusting measurements, nozzle angles, oscillation, and air pressure settings.
- Conduct thorough visual inspections of components before and after process to identify defects or irregularities.
- Prepare components for processing, including cleaning and necessary preparations. Apply protective measures to specified areas as required by the job.
- Adjust equipment settings and parameters to meet job specifications.
- Verify intensities with Almen, strips, blocks, and measuring gauges. Measures and checks test specimens to verify conformances and specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of shot peening operations, including process parameters, machine settings, and inspection results.
- Identify and report operational issues or defects to immediate supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
