Description

Byrne & Jones Construction is a trusted Midwest construction leader with more than 50 years of experience delivering high-quality infrastructure and commercial construction projects. Our work spans asphalt, concrete, sports facilities, microsurfacing, stabilization, park development, and design. We are committed to integrity, quality, safety, and excellence in everything we do

We are seeking an experienced and hardworking Concrete Foreman to lead our concrete construction crews. The ideal candidate is a hands-on concrete professional with strong concrete-finishing experience who can get the job done safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.

Whether your background is as a Cement Mason, Carpenter, Laborer, Operator, or another construction trade, if you have strong concrete finishing experience and can lead a crew, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct concrete crews in all phases of concrete construction, including site preparation, demolition, forming, placement, finishing, repair, and cleanup.
  • Supervise and work alongside crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.
  • Perform and oversee concrete finishing using proper tools, techniques, and equipment.
  • Set and verify forms for sidewalks, curbs, floors, driveways, slabs, and other concrete structures.
  • Direct the placement, distribution, leveling, screeding, floating, edging, and finishing of concrete.
  • Read and interpret plans, drawings, and project specifications as needed.
  • Coordinate daily work activities and communicate project needs and priorities to crew members and management.
  • Monitor concrete conditions, including weather and curing conditions, and make appropriate adjustments to finishing operations.
  • Identify and address quality issues throughout the concrete placement and finishing process.
  • Ensure completed work meets project specifications and company quality standards.
  • Maintain daily production goals and keep the crew working efficiently.
  • Operate or direct the operation of construction equipment as needed.
  • Assist with general labor duties and hands-on construction activities when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
  • Enforce company and job-site safety requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with co-workers, customers, subcontractors, and the public.
  • Train, coach, and develop less-experienced crew members in proper concrete construction and finishing techniques.
  • Perform other duties as directed by project management.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years of concrete construction experience preferred.
  • Strong hands-on concrete finishing experience required.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a concrete crew preferred.
  • Ability to finish concrete to a high-quality standard and recognize potential quality issues before they become problems.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete placement, finishing techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Ability to effectively direct and communicate with a construction crew.
  • Strong understanding of job-site safety practices.
  • Ability to work productively in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Class A CDL preferred.
  • Ability to travel to job sites as assigned.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a working Foreman—not someone who just wants to stand on the sidelines. The right candidate knows concrete, knows how to finish, and can lead a crew by example.
