Site Manager
NewBe an early applicantFohntech group are looking for Site Manager in Helsinki with rotation plan 3 weeks on 1 week off.
The Site Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end installation of the mechanical ventilation systems for largescale data centres. The site manger will be the main point of contact with the client and will manage the site supervisors and have an overview of all site activities. The Site Manager will manage project budgets, variations and programmes providing weekly updates to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage on-site ventilation supervisors and subcontractors, ensuring all workforce deployments align with the project schedule.
- Coordinate day-to-day installation activities with site supervisors.
- Conduct all meetings and briefings on progress meetings with supervisors and subcontractors to review targets, material deliveries, and site access constraints.
- Conduct all client meetings.
- Report project progress internally to senior management.
- Interpret and enforce mechanical design drawings, 3D BIM models (Navisworks/Revit), and technical specifications.
- Oversee the receipt, inspection, and rigging of high-value ventilation plant equipment from delivery to final positioning. Implement robust QA/QC procedures, including pressure testing, and cleanliness inspections of ductwork in accordance with industry standards (e.g., DW144, SMACNA).
- Establish and track a meticulous snag list system to identify and resolve defects immediately.
- Secure and organize all operational documentation, red-line drawings, and manufacturer certifications for the final Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Enforce a strict zero-harm culture on-site, ensuring absolute adherence to corporate and client HSE regulations.
- Review, refine, and approve subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), ensuring specialized activities like working at height or heavy lifting have clear safety protocols.
- Conduct regular site safety walks, address hazards immediately, and participate in incident investigations if required.
- Valid site management safety credentials (e.g. white card). High-risk activity permits (Working at Height, Confined Spaces, Lifting Operations) are highly advantageous.
- Commissioning of the ventilation systems through Level 2 to Level 3 commissioning phases.
- Have an understanding of international and local ductwork standards (e.g., DW144, DW143, SMACNA, ASHRAE guidelines for data centres).
- Competence using digital construction tools, including BIM viewers (Navisworks), project management suites (Procore, BIM360, Visalean, Autodesk Build, or Fieldwire), and scheduling platforms (Primavera P6 or MS Project).
- Highly articulate, with the ability to translate complex engineering designs into clear, actionable tasks for site crews, while providing high-level technical updates to clients.
- Comfortable operating within the rapid-fire, high-pressure execution environment characteristic of hyperscale data centre construction schedules.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical site management, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale ventilation/HVAC packages
- Minimum 2 years of direct experience working on data centre projects, cleanrooms, pharmaceutical facilities, or major industrial high-tech manufacturing plants.
- Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Project Management, Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
