Site Reliability Engineer Intern — Summer 2027
Summary
A summer 2027 internship at Gallup in San Francisco where you'll work alongside experienced engineers to keep their global platform reliable — building observability (Dynatrace, PagerDuty, AWS), dashboards and alerts, Slack-integrated alerting, and automation scripts, plus shadowing incident response. On-site Mon–Thu with remote Fridays.

As a site reliability engineer intern at Gallup, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to strengthen the performance and reliability of the systems behind Gallup’s global platform. You’ll gain hands-on experience with observability, automation and incident response while contributing to real projects and building skills you can carry into your technology career.
What You’ll Do
During your internship, you will:
- Help build and improve observability using tools like Dynatrace and PagerDuty to monitor applications running on AWS
- Create dashboards, alerts and metrics that give engineering teams real-time insight into application performance and system reliability
- Support automated alerting workflows that integrate directly with Slack
- Shadow and support incident response to learn how Gallup detects, resolves and prevents issues before they affect customers
- Write scripts and automation that reduce repetitive operational work
- Collaborate with a progressive technology team of site reliability engineers, DevOps engineers and software developers
What You Need
- Enrollment in an associate, bachelor’s or graduate degree program in computer science, MIS or a related field required
- Basic knowledge of and/or experience with AWS or another cloud platform required
- Basic knowledge of and/or experience with Windows or Linux server administration, networking or infrastructure required
- Classroom or professional experience working with one or more of the following technologies required: Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform, Docker, Amazon ECS, GitHub
- Exposure to monitoring or incident management tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana or PagerDuty preferred
- Enrollment at a college or university within an 80-mile radius of San Francisco, California, required
- Anticipated graduation between August 2027 and May 2028 preferred; will consider 2029 graduates
- Availability to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks during the summer of 2027 required
- A commitment to working on-site at Gallup’s San Francisco office Monday through Thursday required, with the option to work remotely on Friday
- Eligibility to work in the United States required; this position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship
