Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

About the role We're looking for an SRE to keep critical banking platforms reliable, scalable and secure. You will work with engineering and platform teams to improve system reliability, automate operational work and strengthen monitoring across production environments. Kafka is central to the role, so hands-on experience running and supporting it in production is a must.

What you'll do

• Run, monitor and support highly available production systems, including Kafka-based event streaming platforms.
• Manage and troubleshoot Kafka clusters, covering topics, partitions, consumer groups, throughput and latency.
• Define and track SLIs, SLOs and error budgets.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis, and reduce repeat incidents.
• Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using Infrastructure as Code and scripting.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines for safe, repeatable releases.
• Improve observability with better monitoring, logging, tracing and alerting.
• Work with development teams on resilient, production-ready design.
• Contribute to capacity planning, performance tuning and disaster recovery.
  
  

Must-have

• Hands-on Kafka experience in production, including support, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Solid SRE or DevOps experience in large-scale, business-critical environments.
• Cloud platform experience (Azure and/or AWS).
• Kubernetes and containers (Docker, AKS/EKS).
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep or similar).
• CI/CD tooling (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar).
• Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, Datadog or similar).
• Scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Incident management and root cause analysis.
