About usBorn in Christchurch in 2009, OneLaw emerged from a powerful insight: New Zealand law firms were craving a modern, locally supported practice management solution built for their world. With decades of experience in the New Zealand legal sector, our team set out to create software that didn't just keep up with the industry but moved it forward - we're helping law firms modernise and simplify how they work.
As our customer base grows (220+ firms), so does the need for accurate, scalable and well-designed software. We build the product that helps law firms run their practices with confidence and efficiency. Our customers trust us with highly sensitive information, making reliability, security and resilience central to everything we do.
About our role
We're looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our growing Technical Services team. This is our second SRE in the business, providing you with the opportunity to share ownership of the platform, influence technical direction, and help strengthen the security and operational maturity of a cloud-first SaaS environment.
This role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, security, automation and operational excellence. You'll work closely with our existing Site Reliability Engineer, development team and Technical Services Manager to keep our Azure-hosted cloud infrastructure and applications secure, available and performing at its best. From infrastructure automation and Kubernetes operations through to incident response, compliance initiatives and disaster recovery planning, you'll have broad ownership, scope, and real impact.
What you'll be doing
- Managing and improving our Azure-hosted production environment
- Driving platform reliability, performance and operational excellence
- Building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code and automation tooling
- Supporting and improving Kubernetes-based workloads
- Monitoring platform health, responding to incidents and leading post-incident reviews
- Managing patching, upgrades, certificates, backups and recovery processes
- Strengthening platform security, access controls and vulnerability management
- Contributing to ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certification activities
- Supporting audits, security assessments and customer security requirements
- Improving observability through metrics, dashboards, logging and alerting
- Working alongside developers to build secure, scalable cloud solutions
- Helping maintain clear documentation, runbooks and operational procedures
- Participating in a shared on-call roster for production support
You'll ideally bring experience from a SaaS, cloud platform or hosted product environment where uptime, security and customer trust matter. OneLaw's cloud environment and DevOps processes span a broad technology stack.
We're keen to hear from people with:
- Strong Microsoft Azure infrastructure experience
- Deep understanding of cloud and platform security and access management
- Kubernetes and container orchestration experience
- Infrastructure as Code expertise, ideally Terraform
- Linux and Windows administration skills
- Experience with monitoring, observability and incident response
- Experience planning and executing disaster recovery at scale, with CI/CD pipelines
- Strong scripting and automation capability
- Practical experience with security frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NZISM, Essential Eight or CIS Controls
- The ability to balance risk, delivery and operational practicality
- Confidence communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A collaborative approach and willingness to share ownership of a production platform
We're a team that values ownership, trust and continuous improvement. You'll work alongside experienced people who enjoy solving complex problems, sharing knowledge and supporting one another.
This is an environment where you'll be trusted to make decisions, encouraged to challenge ideas when needed, and given the opportunity to help shape the future of our platform and security capabilities.
